Karine Hains: Taming the Two-Headed Monster The Canadiens might not have the Oilers’ firepower on paper, but the game is played on the ice.

Hell yeah!

This team shows great depth, a solid defensive game and a surprisingly good cohesion for a team with so many new players.

The optobus hasn't felt this powerful since Robert Lang was on third line centre.

and that's saying something

but yeah everyone on the team seems to be gelling quite nicely, you can see they're a more confident group in the way they play

For the first time in a long time, I'm psyched for our offense. We played fast and loose in game 1, and although we scored, we gave up way too many chances.

Tonight, they showed they can play offense, score, AND play defensively responsible. I like it, a lot.

If Tatar keeps up like this, though, he may earn his way out of town, which would be a shame.

Great write up, Karine, as always!

nice edition to watch. Just not impressed by Toffoli, so far. I hope for a little more effort on his part. He 's not going to outgoal Lehkonen at that pace...

I'm with you so far on Toffoli... Let's just hope he needs time to gel.

Netflix and chillin with myself, watching Outside the Wire. I *do* love me some Anthony Mackie.

Welcome back, muted applause. I got home from a boat trip on the Amazon with "Trumpeter Scooch", he of the Bills game. Life is good here in Sept-Isles though tired and jet lagged, stay safe, more story to come.

Thanks and yes Tuna is on fire, let’s enjoy what he can do this season as we probably won’t be able to afford him next year...

I'm not eager to side with the nut but his math is correct. Don't let Bettman's "everybody gets a trophy/point" BS cloud it, 1 win and 1 loss is 0.500 regardless of the points

Relax, It’s not because he doesn’t score that he doesn’t played well. He had lots of opportunity last night, it just didn’t go in.

I think the entire line doesn’t show Chemistry, I’d put Toffoli at right and brings some speed with Byron

Fair enough but the points are what matter to get you into the playoffs. 3 points in 2 games is pretty good.

Not disagreeing with that at all, more that it's math and isn't up for interpretation. I know it may be semantics but 2 plus 2 is 4 and 1 win 1 loss is a 0.500% win percentage

Toffoli is getting high danger scoring chances (he just hasn't converted yet) and isn't a defensive liability. Thus far I'm not concerned with him

Hey I don’t make the rules, the points percentage is what matters in this league and until the rules change, my thinking won’t change. Of course, I prefer an outright win to a loser point but loser points exists and there’s no denying it...

You’re right not to worry, conversions will come and I love the way he manages to sneak up behind the D. He was so close to a breakaway goal last night...How long has it been since we saw the Habs play such exciting hockey?
